At Evergreen Conflict Management & Resolution Services, we believe that access to family dispute resolution should not depend on financial circumstances. Our 2026 low-cost mediation program is designed to assist individuals and families in resolving conflicts in a respectful, practical, and affordable manner when traditional legal processes may be financially out of reach.
This program offers reduced-fee and, in limited cases, fully pro bono mediation services for qualifying individuals. It aims to support those facing financial hardship while providing a professional, structured mediation process focused on communication, problem-solving, and durable agreements.
The program is particularly well suited for family disputes, parenting issues, separation-related concerns, and other interpersonal conflicts where parties seek a constructive alternative to litigation. Participation is subject to an application process to determine eligibility and ensure the matter is appropriate for mediation.
By expanding access to mediation, this initiative reflects our commitment to fairness, accessibility, and early conflict resolution. Our goal is to help individuals reach workable solutions, reduce the emotional and financial strain of ongoing disputes, and support healthier outcomes for families and communities.
Applications for the 2026 low-cost mediation program are now being accepted.
All cases accepted into the Low-Cost Mediation Program or Pro Bono Mediation Services are subject to documentation fees, which apply in every case where written agreements or summaries are prepared.
Low-Cost Mediation Program
The reduced mediation fee under this low-cost mediation program is $50 per hour per person, for up to a maximum of three hours. These three hours are typically allocated as follows:
One hour of pre-mediation preparation
One hour of mediation
One hour of document drafting
If additional time is required beyond the initial three hours, mediation services will be billed at a rate of $75 per hour per person, unless the additional time relates specifically to drafting documents.
Pro Bono Mediation Services
Under the pro bono mediation services program, the following are provided at no cost:
One hour of pre-mediation preparation
One hour of mediation
One hour of document drafting time
However, documentation fees still apply for the preparation and finalization of written agreements or mediation summaries. Additional costs may also apply for services such as notarization, if required.
These fees help ensure that the family dispute resolution program remains sustainable while continuing to provide accessible dispute resolution services to individuals and families who may otherwise be unable to access mediation.
This program is designed for short, focused disputes that can reasonably be addressed within the structure of the Low-Cost Mediation Program and our Pro Bono Mediation Services.
Family Mediation
This program is well suited for family dispute resolution matters such as:
- Negotiating or establishing supervised visitation arrangements
- Discussions about parenting time
- Creating or adjusting parenting schedules
- Temporary or seasonal adjustments to parenting schedules (for example, spring break or summer holidays)
However, this program is not appropriate for matters involving:
- Child support
- Spousal support
- Division of property or assets
These types of issues typically require financial disclosure and longer mediation processes.
Residential and Housing Disputes
This program may also be appropriate for:
- Landlord–tenant disputes involving a specific issue
- Strata disputes involving a single bylaw issue
- Disputes between two strata owners where mediation may assist in resolving the issue
The program is not suitable for complex disputes between a strata corporation and an owner, or for matters involving multiple strata bylaw violations. In these situations, our Strata Mediation and Arbitration Program may be a more appropriate option.
Small Civil Disputes.
We may also accept civil disputes under $1,000, depending on the complexity of the issue.
If you are unsure whether your situation fits within this program, please reach out to us. We would be happy to assess your situation and determine how our low-cost mediation program and pro bono mediation services can best assist you.
